4. Gerald Waterworth CAFFERATA
was born 31 May 1906 in La Carnbaz, au chateau foret,
Switzerland. He died 21 Feb 1986. He studied chemistry at
London University before joining the family firm (Cafferata & Co) in 1928. He was appointed director
in 1934, later becoming Chairman and Managing Director. Whist
in London he worked as a volunteer for London Electric
Railways during the General Strike of 1926. During the second
world war, Gerald served with 2nd Notts Battalion of the Home
Guard.
An
accomplished pistol shot, Gerald went to the Olympic Games as
Team Captain and Coach for the British Pistol Team, from 1948
to 1964. He became the Vice Chairman of The National Smallbore
Rifle Association and was awarded the OBE for his services to
shooting.
Gerald married Maud NEWTON. they had three children; Sonia
(b 1937), Michael (b 1938) and Robert (1946-1969).
