Third Generation (Grandparents)

Paternal Grandparents:

4. Gerald Waterworth CAFFERATA was born 31 May 1906 in La Carnbaz, au chateau foret, Switzerland. He died 21 Feb 1986. He studied chemistry at London University before joining the family firm (Cafferata & Co) in 1928. He was appointed director in 1934, later becoming Chairman and Managing Director. Whist in London he worked as a volunteer for London Electric Railways during the General Strike of 1926. During the second world war, Gerald served with 2nd Notts Battalion of the Home Guard.

An accomplished pistol shot, Gerald went to the Olympic Games as Team Captain and Coach for the British Pistol Team, from 1948 to 1964. He became the Vice Chairman of The National Smallbore Rifle Association and was awarded the OBE for his services to shooting.

Gerald married Maud NEWTON. they had three children; Sonia (b 1937), Michael (b 1938) and Robert (1946-1969).

5. Maud NEWTON was born 20 Jul 1908. She died 23 Apr 1983 in Wollaton, Nottinghamshire. Maud was her mother's name, but she was always known as Anne.

6. Wilfred PRICKETT was born 27 Aug 1907 in Stockport, Cheshire. He married Daisy BENNETT on 27 Jan 1940. [Parents]

7. Daisy BENNETT was born 1914. She died 16 Mar 2003 in Congleton, Cheshire.
